Your Future, Your Super Measure
The Your Future, Your Super (YFYS) measure has recently passed both Houses of Parliament and will be in effect as of 1 July 2021 with the stapling and benchmarking measures coming into effect on 1 November 2021. DSPANZ is currently engaged with the ATO in the development of the administrative design to support Phase 2 of these changes.

2021-22 Australian Budget Wrap Up for DSPs
The 2021-2022 Federal Budget contained a few exciting announcements for Digital Service Providers (DSPs) around the digital economy, e-invoicing, cyber security, CDR and deregulation. This included a $1.2 billion investment in the government's digital economy strategy and $134.6 million going towards deregulation measures.

Over the weekend, ABSIA rebranded as the Association of Digital Service Providers Australia New Zealand or DSPANZ (dee-spanz) for short. Our new name and branding is public acknowledgment of the increasingly central role our organisation plays in supporting software developers in Australia and New Zealand.
Modernising Business Communications
ABSIA submitted to the Treasury's Modernising Business Communications - Improving the Technology Neutrality of Treasury Portfolio Laws consultation on 28 February. This submission outlined ABSIA's support for the work to make relevant legislation technology neutral.
Review of Security Legislation Amendment and Security of Critical Infrastructure

ABSIA Support for MAP Database
On 12 February, ABSIA shared a letter of support for the Modern Awards Pay Database API with the Fair Work Commission to assist in securing funding for the project. Following the completion of the API consultation with our members and industry stakeholders, ABSIA worked with members to produce letters of support for the MAP database API.

ABSIA welcomes the ATO's release of the new STP Phase 2 legislative instrument which delays the mandatory start date to 1 January 2022 and includes a deferral scheme for developers and employers.

STP Legislative Instrument Letter to Ministers
On Friday 11 December, following the release of the draft Single Touch Payroll (STP) Phase 2 Legislative Instrument, ABSIA sent the Hon. Stuart Robert MP and the Hon. Michael Sukkar MP a letter requesting a minimum 12 month deferral on the legislative instrument commencement date. A copy of this letter can be found here.

Introduction to the MAPD & ABSIA Consultation
ABSIA has been working with the Fair Work Commission (FWC) on their Modern Awards Pay Database (MAPD) and exploring options to build an API version of the database for software developers to consume. ABSIA and the FWC will be co-chairing a consultation on the MAPD with members and interested parties over November and December.
Operational Framework to be Recognised as an Alternative Accreditation Method by ACCC
In a win for the industry, the ACCC has recently announced that they intend to recognise both ISO 27001 and the ATO's DSP Operational Framework as alternative accreditation methods for Consumer Data Right (CDR) at the restricted level. This move will potentially reduce the costs of CDR accreditation and open up the doors for more DSPs that are interested in becoming Accredited Data Recipients (ADRs).
E-invoicing Update October 2020
Over the past few months, there has been a lot of activity in the e-invoicing space. Most importantly, included in the announcement of the Australian Government's Digital Business Plan, is a commitment to mandate e-invoicing by 1 July 2022 for all Commonwealth Government agencies. Updates to Terms of Use & Privacy Policy
ABSIA updated our Members Terms of Use, Website Terms of Use and Privacy Policy on 1 September 2020. These changes mainly reflect the removal of the Product Catalogue from ABSIA's website and the introduction of the Member Directory. The updated Members Terms of Use, Website Terms of Use and Privacy Policy will take effect on 30 September 2020.
