the government to update the industry on current projects and what's coming up, as well as providing the perfect opportunity for attendees
to learn from their peers.
We also heard some exciting announcements including the establishment of a new industry working group for regulatory technology coming out

Welcome to Webinar Week
Simon Foster (DSPANZ) gave an overview of Webinar Week and provided an introduction to DSPANZ including who we are and what we do. Mark
Stockwell (ATO) then joined to cover the state of the industry form the ATO's perspective and detailed key projects relating to DSPs. Simon
and Mark finished the session with an open chat about challenges within the industry and the relationship that has been created between the
ATO and DSPs over the past few years.
Critical Infrastructure
Patrick Fair (Patrick Fair Associates) took an in depth look at the new Critical Infrastructure legislation and the proposed coverage of
sectors that may impact DSPs. If you think Critical Infrastructure legislation may impact you, we suggest taking a look at this recording
when it becomes available.
ABS Directions in Digitalisation of Business Reporting
John Shepherd (ABS) gave an update on projects happening within the ABS to help digitise business reporting. He also covered the new
monthly insights that the ABS will be delivering over the next year including business turnover, household spending and employee earnings.
The business turnover indicator was recently released on 15 October and utilises data from Business Activity Statements. John hinted at
future opportunities coming early next year. More information about how to get involved will be made available through DSPANZ.
Voice Biometrics: The NZ Experience
Paul Magee (Auraya Systems) delved into voice biometrics detailing how the technology works and how the level of security differs between
other methods of verification. This session showcased the success of voice biometrics in New Zealand where 70% of their adult population
are using their voice to identify themselves for government services and banking.
eInvoicing
Simon Foster (DSPANZ) and Christian Walkerden (OZEDI) started off their session looking at einvoicing.com and how this can be utilised when
looking to onboard customers and suppliers to the Peppol network. Following the demonstration, Simon and Christian had an open chat about
the challenges and the success stories that we've seen so far surrounding Peppol adoption.
The RegTech Roadmap for Modern Awards
Laura Munsie (Attorney- General's Department) provided participants with an overview of their RegTech roadmap which looks at how
regulatory technology innovations can assist businesses to better understand and comply with modern awards. Projects included in the
roadmap will primarily benefit small and medium businesses and reduce their workload surrounding modern award obligations. Laura also
provided an update on how the Attorney-General's Department has been working with DSPANZ to create an industry working group around regtech
and modern awards. More information about this will be available late October.
Single Touch Payroll
Matt Hay (ATO) started this session off with an overview of the work undertaken between DSPs and the ATO over the past year to support
JobKeeper and other stimulus measures and thanked DSPs for their efforts. Michael Karavas (ATO) then spoke about the Single Touch Payroll
(STP) program to date before looking at what’s currently happening with STP Phase 2. He then covered planned changes to activity
statements and said that DSPs interested in participating in a working group could register their interest through Online Services for DSPs.
Cyber Security for Small and Medium Business
Gaye Deegan (Joint Cyber Security Centre - Adelaide) and Rosalie Martin (Department of Home Affairs) gave an overview of the cyber threat landscape for small and medium businesses. This included details about ransomware attacks and real life examples of cyber attacks on everyday Australian businesses. Gaye and Rosalie advised participants on the best mitigation methods to protect themselves and their businesses. SSAM Review
Matthew Prouse (DSPANZ) provided an update on the Security Standard for Add-on Marketplaces (SSAM) review and addressed potential changes
to the standard. Matthew covered the insights from two surveys conducted during the review which highlighted both the DSP and add-on
developer experience of implementing and complying with the SSAM. Rounding out the session, Matthew provided an update on when to expect
the release of the review report and when the new version of the SSAM is expected to be published.
Anti Money Laundering
Vineet Mishra (Alacer Group) provided participants with an overview of the relevant AML laws and due diligence required particularly from payroll processors. Vineet covered how AML legislation may affect payroll processors including the applicable sections of AML laws and how to implement an effective AML program. This session highlighted how AUSTRAC has become more active with AML and fraud monitoring which is why payroll processors should be aware of how it may affect them.
