Over the past few months, there has been a lot of activity in the eInvoicing space. Most importantly, included in the announcement of the Australian Government's Digital Business Plan, is a commitment to mandate e-invoicing by 1 July 2022 for all Commonwealth Government agencies. This announcement also included information about consulting on options for the mandatory adoption of eInvoicing by businesses.
This is a welcome announcement from the eInvoicing community and ABSIA looks forward to working with the Government and our members to
support these initiatives. We also understand that New Zealand may have a similar mandate pending the outcome of their upcoming
election.
Peppol
The new Peppol Transport Infrastructure Agreements (TIAs) are currently going through a second review process which is expected to finish by the end of November.
The work of the Peppol International Invoice (PINT) Working Group to introduce this invoice format and consequential changes to SMPs
is starting to come to a close. While no decisions have currently been made around mandated dates, we are expecting these to be at
least 12 months into the future.
Invoice Content and Status Working Group
ABSIA has been involved in facilitating and co-hosting the Invoice Content and Status Group along with the ATO and MBIE. These have been
very productive sessions and the first documents from this group are expected to be published by the end of the month.
Monthly E-invoicing Meetings
We are continuing to run our monthly ABSIA eInvoicing meetings. These meetings are a space for those interested in eInvoicing and those currently participating to have discussions on current issues and topics.
