Business Software Industry COVID-19 Impact Survey
ABSIA is conducting a survey to better understand the current and future impacts of COVID-19 on our members and the business software industry. Business software providers are encouraged to complete this survey and share it with their peers operating in the industry. This survey closed on Monday 1 June at 5pm (AEST).
Integrity of Single Touch Payroll Data
Recent events surrounding early access to superannuation has prompted concerns about the integrity of ATO systems including Single Touch Payroll (STP). ABSIA are well aware of the ATO's security measures given we represent many DSPs and SSPs that send STP data to the ATO and we were involved in the creation of the DSP Operational Framework that protects this data and the ATO.

APRA Implementing New Data Collection Solution
The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) is replacing its data collection tool 'Direct to APRA (D2A)' with a new Data Collection Solution which is targeted for release in March 2020. Coinciding with this announcement, APRA also released their initial Implementation Plan.
Involvement in PEPPOL and Training for Members
Following the recent announcement by the Prime Ministers of Australia and New Zealand to adopt the Pan-European Public Procurement (PEPPOL) interoperability framework, ABSIA are now able to share more information about our prior engagement with OpenPEPPOL.

ABSIA's Journey has been remarkable in the short few years since it was formed in 2014, and recognition must go to the early Directors'
relentless efforts and the tremendous, continuing support from the ATO that has been invaluable for ABSIA.
A little reflection ... In November 2016 when I stepped into the role of ABSIA President, a few unexpected events surfaced, not the least of
which was that all the ATO secondees returned to their home groups in January 2017. As challenging as it has been over the last two years,
that was a defining moment for ABSIA to shed its dependence from the Government and learn to fly.

2018 Annual General Meeting Outcomes
ABSIA’s 2018 Annual General Meeting was held on Tuesday October 30, 2018 at 3pm (AEDT) in Melbourne. Once again this year, the number of Board Nominees exceeded the number of available positions and proxy voting was held in the lead up to the AGM. The results of the proxy votes were tallied at the meeting with no votes being made in person.

Nominees for ABSIA Board 2018
At the upcoming AGM, there will be four (4) Director positions on ABSIA's Board that will be renewed, and there are five (5) nominees for these positions. As the number of nominees exceeds the number of vacant positions, there will be a vote. ABSIA members are strongly encouraged to do electronic voting by proxy ahead of the AGM through a survey that will be sent to all eligible members who are entitled to vote.

Intro To The ATO Operational Framework
A webinar for software developers by software developers The Operational Framework is a program developed by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) in conjunction with the software industry and will create a set of security protocols for interactions with ATO systems. It will affect every Digital Service Provider (DSP)* consuming any ATO service. This one hour webinar will be presented by a panel of ABSIA subject matter.

Nominees for Australian Business Software Industry Association
This year, the number of ABSIA Nominees exceeds the number of vacant elected ABSIA positions. For the first time, a ballot will be held by Electronic Proxy Voting. Electronic voting will commence on Monday 25/9/2017 9:00am (AEST) and closes Monday 9/10/2017 3:00pm (AEST) but it’s strongly suggested that you vote by Friday 6th October at 5pm (AEST) in order for votes to be counted. The announcement of the ABSIA Board will be at the ABSIA Annual General Meeting.
ATO Systems Outage Report
Following the ATO System Outages in December 2016 and February 2017, ATO commissioned Pricewaterhouse Coopers to undertake an independent review, and also conducted an internal investigation in which a number of ABSIA members participated. These investigations are in addition to Hewlett Packard Enterprises (HPE) forensic investigation as to the root causes of those outages, the resulting report is here.

President's Statement 2016
2016 was a successful year for ABSIA. ABSIA has become recognised as a credible voice representing the software industry. We have been invited to be at the table in Reinventing the ATO Transformation Program and culture change effort within ATO, and joined the boards of SBR and ABR.
