Peppol

DSPANZ supports software developers and interested parties involved in developing and adopting eInvoicing in Australia, New Zealand and across the Peppol network.

DSPANZ currently co-chairs the A-NZ Peppol All Stakeholders Working Group and associated focus groups. We also host an Access Point Issues Form for the community to raise issues they have encountered and how they have been solved to help others across the network.

History of DSPANZ and eInvoicing

DSPANZ has had a vital role in progressing A-NZ eInvoicing since 2015. Our role so far has included:

2022

February - Provided a submission to Treasury's Supporting business adoption of eInvoicing consultation.

June - Signed Memorandum of Understanding on Strategic Cooperation with EESPA.

2021

May - $15.3 million allocated in the budget to encourage the adoption of eInvoicing.

November - Co-chaired the first A-NZ Peppol All Stakeholders Working Group.

2020

June - ABSIA submits to the ATO and MBIE's eInvoicing discussion paper on invoice status communication and kicks off monthly eInvoicing meetings for members and eInvoicing community.

July - Invoice status and content workshops kick off co-chaired by ABSIA, ATO and MBIE. The intention is to develop an ANZ "Best Practice" implementation guide for eInvoice content and message response.

December - A-NZ Industry Practice Statements published on the A-NZ peppol GitHub.

2019

January - ABSIA representative attends the official launch of Singapore's Peppol eInvoicing network and participates in the IMDA training workshop for software developers. ABSIA representatives meet with Peppol and the Trans Tasman Working Group and advise transition to Peppol standard.

March - ABSIA joins OpenPeppol as an observer organisation. Peppol joins ABSIA as a Business Member. ABSIA sends a delegate to the 11th OpenPeppol General Assembly in Belgium alongside the Australian and New Zealand governments.

April - ABSIA presents at the Australian and New Zealand Government's 'Get ready for Peppol e-invoicing' engagement forum. ABSIA hosted a Peppol training webinar for interested software developers. Materials from this webinar will be provided to members upon request.

June - ABSIA hosted a follow up Peppol webinar for members. Materials can be accessed here.

August - ABSIA submitted to the ATO and MBIE's consultation process for localised Peppol standards.

October - ABSIA Director Simon Foster and Member Rick Harvey attend OpenPeppol face to face meeting where new Peppol branding is launched.

November - ABSIA Members and Board Members attend the New Zealand launch of Peppol.

December - The first eInvoice was sent in New Zealand. First group of Australian accredited service providers live on the Peppol network.

2018

October - ABSIA prepares a submission for Treasury representing the considered views of the software industry on the governance model and approach for Trans-Tasman eInvoicing. ABSIA hosts an international conference on e-invoicing for software developers in Melbourne. Members and software developers from across the Asia Pacific attend. Presenters include Australian Federal and State governments, the New Zealand government and the Infocomm Media Development Authority in Singapore.

December - ABSIA represents the software industry at the Trans-Tasman Ministerial Roundtable on eInvoicing in Sydney - and recommends that the Trans Tasman Working Group re-examines the Peppol standard.

2017

February - ABSIA chairs the Governance Working Group for the Digital Business Council on eInvoicing. ABSIA is also represented on the Technical Working Group, DCL Working Group and Semantic Working Group.

2016

September - ABSIA stands up a prototype Digital Capability Locator (DCL) for members and developers for testing purposes.

October - ABSIA members (Squirrel Street and OZEDI) demonstrate the interoperability of the Digital Capability Locator using the draft Australian DBC eInvoicing standards at the ABSIA annual conference.

2015

November - ABSIA is a founding member of the Digital Business Council. The Digital Business Council was established to help government understand the makeup and technical frameworks for a modern digital Australian economy.
