Digital
ID Rules and Accreditation Rules Consultation
The Department of Finance has released exposure drafts of proposed changes to the Digital ID Rules 2024 and the Digital
ID
(Accreditation) Rules 2024
for consultation. The proposed changes seek to:
- Establish a redress framework relating to incidents within the Australian Government Digital ID System
- Strengthen reporting incident obligations for accredited services
- Allow individuals to give consent for up to 7 years when acting on behalf of a business
- Update the protective security policy framework requirements for accredited
entities.

Ransomware Reporting Guidance & Industry Survey
The Department of Home Affairs has published updated guidance on mandatory ransomware reporting, which is now available in PDF
form and on their website. The
Department has also launched
an industry survey
to gather insights on:
- Improving the ransomware reporting form
- Informing and shaping future guidance and education
resources
- Identifying areas where businesses may need additional support
- Enhancing user experience and streamlining data collection.
The
survey
is now open and will close on Friday 31 October 2025.
