ABSIA is now DSPANZ
Over the weekend, ABSIA rebranded as the Association of Digital Service Providers Australia New Zealand or DSPANZ (dee-spanz) for short. Our new name and branding is public acknowledgment of the increasingly central role our organisation plays in supporting software developers in Australia and New Zealand.
Modernising Business Communications
ABSIA submitted to the Treasury's Modernising Business Communications - Improving the Technology Neutrality of Treasury Portfolio Laws consultation on 28 February. This submission outlined ABSIA's support for the work to make relevant legislation technology neutral.
Review of Security Legislation Amendment and Security of Critical Infrastructure
ABSIA contributed a submission to the Review of the Security Legislation Amendment (Critical Infrastructure) Bill 2020 and Statutory Review of the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018 on 12 February 2021. Access a full copy of this submission here.
ABSIA Support for MAP Database
On 12 February, ABSIA shared a letter of support for the Modern Awards Pay Database API with the Fair Work Commission to assist in securing funding for the project. Following the completion of the API consultation with our members and industry stakeholders, ABSIA worked with members to produce letters of support for the MAP database API.
Software Industry Welcomes New STP Legislative Instrument
ABSIA welcomes the ATO's release of the new STP Phase 2 legislative instrument which delays the mandatory start date to 1 January 2022 and includes a deferral scheme for developers and employers.
Mandatory E-invoicing for Businesses

FinTech RegTech Issues Paper 2 Submission

STP Legislative Instrument Letter to Ministers
On Friday 11 December, following the release of the draft Single Touch Payroll (STP) Phase 2 Legislative Instrument, ABSIA sent the Hon. Stuart Robert MP and the Hon. Michael Sukkar MP a letter requesting a minimum 12 month deferral on the legislative instrument commencement date. A copy of this letter can be found here.
Annual General Meeting Outcomes 2020
