Chance to Have Your Say on the Future of Payments in
Australia As
the Australian economy becomes more digital, the way we pay - and expect to be paid - is evolving. It's vital that Australia's payments
infrastructure continues to adapt to meet the needs and expectations of consumers, businesses and governments, as well as other key
stakeholders involved in the processing of payments. To help shape the future direction of account-to-account payments in Australia, AP+
is collecting feedback from end users and
stakeholders through two public consultations:
-
The future vision for account-to-account payments: In partnership with AusPayNet, and with the support of the RBA and
Treasury, this consultation will collect feedback on the current and future payment needs and expectations of the users of Australia's
account-to-account payments system.
-
NPP capabilities and enhancements: AP+ is also seeking input on
the key capabilities and improvements needed in the future
for Australia's fast payments infrastructure, the NPP - such as bulk payment processing, standardised payment instructions and enhanced
data capabilities - to support end user needs.
Submissions are welcome from all end users, including consumers, businesses, governments, financial institutions and intermediaries
involved in payments, and other key stakeholder
groups. To learn more or provide your input, visit
the AP+
website.
Submissions close 31 July 2025.

ATO
Transition to TLS 1.3
The ATO is transitioning to TLS
1.3,
which provides many security and performance benefits over TLS 1.2 and earlier versions. DSPs still using earlier versions
of TLS will
be required to enable TLS 1.3 by December 2025, aligning with the ATO's planned decommissioning of TLS 1.2. If you have any questions
about the transition, raise
a ticket
via the DSP service desk.

Government Establishing eInvoicing By Default
The Australian Government is establishing eInvoicing as the default method for exchanging invoice information for all non-corporate
Commonwealth entities (NCEs), with transitional arrangements commencing immediately. The government
is working to update its policies,
processes and guidance to support the mandate. The ATO, as the Australian Peppol Authority, will provide support for agencies to help
them meet the interim requirements and mandate. Read more about the latest Australian eInvoicing news on the ATO's
website.

Investment Boost
Inland
Revenue has shared
that for the 2025 tax year, businesses should record Investment Boost in their income tax returns in the same way as depreciation. This
is because income tax returns have
already been published, and many have already been filed. Inland Revenue is currently working on how
businesses should record these amounts for the 2026 and future tax years, and will provide more guidance when details are
finalised.
