Name: Allen Knight
Position on Board: Director
What are some interesting facts about you?
I've recently taken up paddleboarding.
Who do you work for and what is your role?
My role as CEO at Taxlab is to engage with customers and the wider tax and accounting community, interpret their needs and design our internal organisation to best meet those needs.
How did you get involved with DSPANZ?
As an organisation, we saw an increasing need in the New Zealand tax and accounting community to collaborate in a structured manner with the New Zealand government and regulators through an organisation like DSPANZ rather than directly. We were impressed with what was being done in Australia and were very happy to get involved after discovering that DSPANZ were intending on expanding to New Zealand.
What keeps you busy outside of your work life and DSPANZ?
I like to spend time with my wife and young son. I'm also a keen tennis player and spend as much time on mountain bike trails as time allows.
What would you love to see happen with technology in the next 50 years?
I would like to see technology move more to the background and provide more time and higher quality interactions for people rather than take those things away.
Which is best - the book or the movie?
I'm a very visual person, so definitely movie.
What has been the most rewarding part of your career so far?
Hiring our first employee. Being able to contribute to the community by providing meaningful interesting jobs has been hugely rewarding.
If you had your own talk show, who would you invite as your first guest?
And finally, what’s the weirdest food you’ve ever eaten?
Pigeon, and I don't recommend it.
